Wordly Wise - Lesson 1 quiz next Friday. Today, we reviewed the vocabulary words together. Students then began working on Activity A. Next week, students will be given time on some mornings to work on activities, and will finish the work at home. The schedule will be:
Monday - finish A/B at home if you didn't finish in class Tuesday - finish C/D at home if you didn't finish in class Wed/Thursday - finish E at home. Friday - quiz. The Quizlet practice set for Lesson 1 is posted in Google Classroom in Wordly Wise. 1. Math - Homework for Lesson 12. 2. Reading - Read to the NEXT agreed-upon page. Continue to look for evidence about the setting, character, and the story's problem. 3. Have parents sign up for Xtra Math. 1. Math - Complete the homework for lesson 11.
2. Read - to the NEW agreed upon page in your partner book. Continue to look for important background information about the main character, the problem, and the setting. 3. Have your parent sign you up for Xtra Math. 1. Math - Homework for lesson 10. You do not need to do the last problem. We will do it together in class tomorrow. Remember to look at your problem set if you need help. You can also look at the video on my website.
2. Reading - Read to your NEW assigned page. Focus on what you are learning about the main character and the setting, as well as what you think the problem might be. Be prepared to write details tomorrow in class. (Note: many students were not prepared to write details of setting today. The nightly reading homework is not "just read." Students must also "think about" and be ready to write about what they have read.:) 1. Math - Homework for lesson 9. Do not do the last problem on the homework page; we will do it in class together.
2 Social Studies - Test and note check tomorrow. Please follow directions on the orange sheet for stapling, organization, and labeling of the notes. 3. Reading - Read to your assigned page in your partner book tonight. As you read, think about the setting - what are the details you are learning? What are you visualizing? Be ready to meet with your partner tomorrow morning to discuss and write about the setting. 4. Show returned tests/assignments to your parents - math, Scholastic News, Scholar Speaks 1. Social Studies - Test on Tuesday. On Monday, we will review. On Monday morning, students should come to school with their handouts already stapled together, in numerical order, with the orange sheet on top. Each handout should be fully completed, including the practice maps on the back of H.O #1 and on the back of the orange sheet. Each handout should have first name, last name, and the number of the handout in the upper right corner. Note: To save paper, #6 and #7 were combined.
1. Math - Complete problems 1-8 on the pink application packet. Show your work! Test tomorrow.
2. Scholar Speaks - All remaining students will present their speeches tomorrow. 3. Social Studies - Test next Tuesday. Tonight, study U.S. land regions and timelines. Use the study tools on Google Classroom. Make sure all handouts are filled in correctly. Complete the maps on the back of HO #1 and the orange sheet. 4. Scholastic News - read the debate on page 7 about trampoline parks! 1. Math - Complete problems 1-10 of the Place Value packet.
2. Scholar Speaks - Practice at home! 3. Social Studies - test next Tuesday on maps. Tonight, study and practice longitude and latitude. Use the study tools (image quizzes and Quizlets on Google Classroom). 4. Reading - Read pages 2, 3, and 6 of the September 2019 Scholastic News. Annotate using !, Q, #, box and eye. This was started in class. 5. Science - show your parens the lime green paper. 1. Math - Complete the assigned problems of the Review packet (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 , 9, 10). We started this in class, and most students finished 1 and 2. Test on Friday.
2. Scholar Speaks - Prepare your speech. Practice at home. Speeches are tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday. 3. Social Studies - Test on Maps next Tuesday. Read the test announcement guide again. Get your handouts in order and completed. Finish the map on the back of the orange sheet and check it with the key on the Social Studies page of this website. Complete the map on the back of Handout #1 to practice. Use the Google Classroom study tools - Quizlet and map quizzes. Tonight, study maps (H.O. #2) and the continents and oceans. 4. Reading - Read the Dolphin article in Scholastic News and annotate it with the marks we learned in class: !, Q, an eye (for visualizing) and a box of important new words. |
